
Amigurumi Panda Free Crochet Pattern
This free crochet pattern for my amigurumi panda is a great project for intermediate and seasoned crocheters! If you’re not quite ready for color changes yet, you can make it in one color only and turn it into a different kind of bear. It comes with a 2 part video tutorial on my YouTube channel, in case you need visual guidance.

DK / light worsted weight cotton yarn in black and white (I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in Pure Black (402) and Champagne White (403))
2.5mm / C-2 or B-1 crochet hook
5mm / 0.2″ safety eyes
Black or brown embroidery floss
Large eyed sewing needle
Abbreviations
St = stitch
Ch = chain
Sc = single crochet (double crochet in British terms)
Inc = sc increase: single crochet 2 in same st
Dec = invisible sc decrease: Insert hook in front loops of next 2 sts, yarn over, pull through both front loops, yarn over, pull through 2 remaining loops
BLO = back loops
(…) = stitches that are repeated in the rd
*… = number of repetitions
Instructions for the amigurumi panda
Crochet the forelegs in black (make 2)
Rnd 1: Sc 6 in magic ring (6)
Rnd 2: Inc 6 (12)
Rnd 3: In BLO: Sc 3, [mini bobble st 1, sl st 1]*3, sc 3 (12)
Rnd 4 to 7 (4 rnds): Sc 12 (12)
Fasten off.
Crochet the hind legs in black (make 2)
Rnd 1: Sc 6 in magic ring (6)
Rnd 2: Inc 6 (12)
Rnd 3: In BLO: Sc 3, [mini bobble st 1, sl st 1]*3, sc 3 (12)
Rnd 4 to 6 (3 rnds): Sc 12 (12)
Rnd 7: [inc 1, sc 3]*3 (15)
Fasten off.
Crochet the belly
Ch 3 in white
Rnd 1: Sc 1 in 2nd ch, sc 3 in last ch, sc 2 in other side of ch (6)
Rnd 2: Sc 15 around hind leg, sc 1, sc 1 changing to black, sc 12 around foreleg, sc 1, [sc 11, sc 1 changing to white] around foreleg, sc 2, sc 15 around hind leg, sc 1 (60)

Crochet the head

Fasten off black yarn.
Embroider the nose and mouth on round 1 and 2. Click here for the video.
Insert the safety eyes in the upper part of the black patches.
Rnd 8 to 10 (3 rnds): Sc 36 (36)
Rnd 11: [sc 4, dec 1]*6 (30)
Rnd 12: [sc 3, dec 1]*6 (24)
Start filling the head.
Rnd 13: [sc 2, dec 1]*6 (18)
Rnd 14: [sc 1, dec 1]*6 (12)
Fill the head more if necessary.
Rnd 15: Dec 6 times (6)
Fasten off and close the round. Weave in the yarn end.
Crochet the ears in black (make 2)
Rnd 1: Sc 6 in magic ring (6)
Rnd 2: Inc 6 (12)
Rnd 3: Sc 12 (12)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Slightly squish the ears and sew them on rnd 11 with about 5 stitches space in between.
Crochet the tail in black or white
Rnd 1: Sc 6 in magic ring (6)
Rnd 2 and 3 (2 rnds): Sc 6 (6)
Fasten off leaving a long enough end for sewing the tail on.
Sew the tail on round 9 and 10, centered on the backside.
Sew the head on the center front of the body using white yarn. Try to make the stitch in the body as close to the head as possible, so that no large white stitches will be visible on the black front body.
